UNSW recognised for their R & D into PV cells

How clever are Aussies? University of NSW professor Stuart Wenham and his team have taken out the A. F. Harvey Engineering Research Prize from the Institution of Engineering and Technology. The award includes $560,000 (£300,000) in prize money that will be put towards future research. Their research into correction of deficiencies in silicon, the key component in solar PV cells is directed at increasing efficiency in lower grade components which are more cost effective. Professor Wenham foresees up to a 50% reduction in the cost of producing solar modules by 2020. Way to go!
